A front view of the chair one on a white background
Chair_one is truly unique. It was designed to be made of more space than solidity, so as to use the least amount of material. It is constructed like a football: a number of flat planes assembled at angles to each other, creating the three-dimensional form. The geometrical lines and sculptural shapes offer visual interest combined with practicality at its best. Grcic himself describes the design as “having an inner logic and its structure without ornament, but not quite minimalist.” In fact, he says, “it is really quite complex. It is precisely this form of simplicity that I like” Since its launch, it has won the admiration and respect of designers across the globe. Suitable for indoor or outdoor use and stackable up to 8 chairs high.

“People were kind of stunned. They didn’t believe it was a chair one could sit on.”

Modern Comfort

Chair_One is unique in its unconventional look, and very comfortable. The chair seat is gently shaped in a wide basket form and the high backrest is sculpted to provide good back support.

Quality and Craftsmanship
The triangular construction is extremely strong. The bucket seat and backrest is expertly crafted from die-cast aluminium. The legs are painted aluminium. The choice of materials provide a weather resistant and fireproof product. Its strength and stability is ensured not only by its material but also in its cohesive, solid design.
Konstantin Grcic
Konstantin Grcic was born in Munich, Germany in 1965. Following in the footsteps of many chair design icons, he first trained as a cabinet maker. After that he studied design at the Royal College of Art in London and founded his own studio, KGID, in 1991. He is a prolific industrial designer of various products, known for his innovative eye for geometry, unexpected angles and absolute usability. In 2016, Grcic was honoured as the “Designer of the Year” at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
“The structure of the chair is also the geometry of the seat.”
